"Fillin' in for 'im, doc."
"Before it starts spewing spores"? What do you mean, "before"? It's already been spewing spores for years! What you get out of it is nothing BUT spores! We're screwed, man!
Side-note: if anyone wants some good news on the conflict, there's a guy called Humza Howidy on Twitter; Gaza journalist who tears a new one to both Israel and Hamas rather than kowtowing to one or the other.
But yeah, I can understand that Bibi would be getting more insane and desperate lately given how much he's fucked up the war. He's proved that he can't destroy Hamas; they replenished their number easily while his fighters performed a quasi-genocide (the fact that it's opportunistic is what's made it harder to define) on everyone else in the area. I've heard about Gazans protesting Hamas recently—but we know the current Israel government isn't going to do anything to support them, now is it?
Admittedly, though, I am personally mixed about the idea of depicting Bibi with THAT armband. Like, I get the point behind it ("I decide who is Hamas"), but I think it's a precarious line to walk and I personally would've used the flag of Kach instead.
Mother Nature isn't gonna like this
She's gon' be pissed!
Yeah, I remember this phrase being all over the place in 2017-2018, and I feel a need to put down my own thoughts on it.
Yes, Nazis DESERVE to be punched, and the day you see me deny that is the day you see me dead. The issue is that actually punching them will solve… nothing. The act itself is just personal catharsis, even if it's directed towards someone or something that happens to be awful.
When dealing with bigots, the best thing to do is either ignore them or actively challenge them. Over a decade ago here in the UK we had the British National Party, an ultraconservative group which IIRC at one point had fifty of its members in government positions. We tried shutting them up and censoring them, but it only led to them being able to paint themselves as the victims, especially since they were never allowed to show "their side" of things (I'm getting to that, gimme a moment, note the air quotes I'm using).
However, we tried something different with them later—had them on the BBC show Question Time and confronted them on their policies and ideals. When they couldn't properly answer the simplest of questions, they inadvertently exposed THEIR own bigotry and fascism on national TV. They dropped from having fifty of their number in places of power to ONE overnight. We decided to finally let them speak, and it bit them right in the ass. This is how all radical groups work; they can't comprehend anything besides themselves.
You can't kill an idea, let alone beat one into submission. But you can expose an idea, humiliate it, discredit it, and come up with a new and BETTER one to take its place.
Punching a Nazi might physically hurt them, sure… but a punch is something they can walk off easily compared to confronting them on their philosophies and letting them tear themselves apart. Why settle for punching a Nazi when there are better ways out there to actually HURT them?
EDIT: Welp, that's not what I've experienced. Most people from the before time took it literally. VERY literally.
I never said there aren’t other ways of taking care of them. The point of saying “Punch a Nazi” isn’t just to say “this is the best and only way to deal with them” but more on the lines of enforcing the idea that them and their way of life is intolerable and should be treated as such. It’s easy to look at “Punch a Nazi” without realizing what that statement is actually supposed to represent if you haven’t had to put up with their bullshit like I have.
So just out of curiosity, this is based off the tale of the Green Knight, right?
Red Knight… Green Knight…
EDIT: Ah, I see. Nice!
Nope, the Red Knight :v
It's actually a title borne by several characters in Arthurian legend.
